A SURPRISE PHONE CALL

I received a very nice surprise yesterday morning. My sister called me from Afghanistan. I can't divulge much about the conversation. I could tell from her voice that she is certainly enjoying this experience & she is very proud to be able to do this for her country. I had another chance to tell her that I Love Her, if you knew the history of our family, you would understand how important those 3 words are to us, & what they mean to us. It was a wonderful surprise, I hope I get a few more.

A VERY BAD DAY

Sgt. Eades

Sapper Stock

Cpl. Wasden

Yesterday was a very bad day in Afghanistan. We lost 3 very brave soldiers in an IED attack. This makes 93 killed in Afghanistan. All three were riding in the same vehicle when the attack occurred. One other Canadian soldier was wounded. I have been guilty of this, but we have to remember to pray for the wounded as well as the fallen, maybe more so.
As you know I have a sister over there, so when I hear this type of news on the radio or wherever I know what goes on in my stomach, the terrible, scared, feeling I get. So now I have somewhat an idea of what wife's, Moms & Dads, & kids go through everyday their loved one is deployed.
.
I have a much better insight to it than I did before. I have no idea how these other folks go through it every day. I'll find out until my sister comes home. I pray for her & all our troops everyday.
We got a few pics from my sister on Wed. She would rather me not post them here, so I wont. She's getting used to the routine, she is enjoying it, when she can.
We all have to support & pray for our troops. Especially the three & their families. Let's not forget the wounded, they need our prayers also.

God Loves You.

NO WORD YET

I haven't heard from my sister since she arrived in Afghanistan. She is likely very busy, but she did contact Rosie. Apparently the Internet service over there isn't too great. Toni wasn't ready for the amount of sand, the sand gets into everything, they need lots of zip lock bags to put their stuff in.

The heat is bad, & the hours she has to work are long, 12 - 14 hrs. 24/7.
It won't take her too long to get used to everything. I know how stubborn she is, when she makes up her mind to do something, it gets done. When I hear from her, I will do another post.

Please pray for & support our troops. I can't say that enough. We need to pray for them all.

God Loves You.

YET AGAIN

Mcpl. Erin Doyle

Mcpl. Erin Doyle was killed in Afghanistan yesterday. Two combat deaths in 3 days. If anything, this should tell us why we are needed over there. This may sound a bit harsh, but at least Mcpl. Doyle died in a firefight with the enemy, he could see who or what he was fighting & from what I have read, his buddies made sure the bad guys paid. We have to pray for our troops, ask any soldier, "what can I do for you", I guarantee you the great majority of them would say,"please pray for me". In a bunker, during combat there is no such thing as an atheist.

As an ex soldier myself, & now a family member of someone deployed, I know all too well that feeling. Although I never had to go off & fight, the potential was always there. The training was always as real as they could make it. Our troops today receive the best training in the world. But, they still need our support & prayers, mine are with the Doyle family tonight as well as my sister, who is on her way over there as I write this.

ONE GONE, ANOTHER ON HER WAY.

Mcpl. Josh Roberts

I just heard about MCPL. Josh Roberts death over in Afghanistan just before I went over to my sister's place to have some time together before she deployed. Funny, as I write this I pray for Mcpl. Roberts & his family, while at the same time I am praying for my sister's safety while she is over there. In an hour it's time to go to church, where there will be a lot more prayers. That's all we can do, Support them & Pray for them.

Last night my sister got dressed up in her desert Cam's, & was goofing around showing us how they taught her to duck & get out of the way. Lots of laughter, but I could see how anxious she was, maybe even a bit nervous. It's something she has wanted to do for a long time & has worked very hard to get there.

I am so proud of her, she has no idea how much. Save travels Sis & come home safe to us. PLEASE PRAY FOR ALL OUR TROOPS WHO ARE DEPLOYED.

God Loves You.

MISSED

I have to admit I have missed some of the news out of Afghanistan, Especially the last soldier who was killed. It seems my local newspaper & TV news have become indifferent when it comes to reporting news from Afghanistan or about our Military.

I sure hope the news gets better coverage, as my sister is on her way to Kandahar for her first tour.
